How to Play Word Guess
You have six tries to work out a hidden five-letter word. Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter — on a phone the built-in keyboard sits under the board, on a desktop your real keyboard works exactly as you would expect, including Backspace. Every guess must be a real word from the accepted list; nonsense letters are bounced back with a shake and cost you nothing.
The moment a guess lands, all five tiles flip and colour themselves. A green tile means that letter is in the word and sitting in exactly the right spot. A purple tile means the letter belongs to the word but is somewhere else. A grey tile means the letter is not in the word at all. The on-screen keyboard remembers everything you have learned, so a letter you have already ruled out stays greyed out for the rest of the round.
Three modes share the same board. Daily gives everyone in the world the same word each day and saves your progress on your device, so a refresh never hands you a second chance. Practice deals unlimited random words whenever you want more. 2-Player is pass-and-play on one phone: the first player types a secret word that shows only as dots, hands the device over, and the second player gets six guesses — then you swap and the fewest guesses wins.
Strategies & Tips
Open with vowels and common consonants
Your first guess buys information, not luck. Words like STEAK, TRAIN or SLATE put three of the five most frequent letters on the board at once, and a first guess with two vowels almost always narrows the field faster than a guess with one.
Spend guess two on brand new letters
If the opener came back mostly grey, resist the urge to reshuffle the same letters. A second guess made entirely of untested letters — something like MOUND after STEAK — covers ten of the alphabet's twenty-six in two moves and usually leaves only a handful of candidates.
Respect the purple tiles
A purple tile is two clues in one: the letter is in the word, and it is not in that position. Players lose far more rounds by re-placing a purple letter in the same slot than by running out of ideas. Move it, every time.
Remember doubles exist
Words like GREEN, SLEEP and APPLE repeat a letter, and the tile colours handle that honestly — if you guess a letter twice but it only appears once in the answer, exactly one of your two tiles lights up and the other goes grey. When you are three guesses deep with four confirmed letters and nothing fits, a double is usually what you are missing.
Watch for fitness and food words
The answer list is deliberately weighted towards everyday health vocabulary — SQUAT, PLANK, CARBS, FIBER, PULSE, LUNGE, YEAST. When you are down to two candidates and one of them belongs in a gym or a kitchen, take it.
In 2-player, set a fair word
The temptation is to pick the most obscure word you can spell. Resist it: if your opponent fails, the round is only a draw unless you also solve theirs, so a word that is guessable in four or five moves scores better than one that is guessable in none. Words with one repeated letter and a common opening consonant are the sweet spot.

The answer list holds 287 common English words, deliberately weighted towards everyday fitness and nutrition vocabulary — SQUAT, PLANK, CARBS, FIBER, PULSE and so on. A much larger list of 3,446 valid words is accepted as guesses, so ordinary words are not rejected even when they are never the answer.
