About the game
Fitness advice is full of half-truths. Myth or Fact is a quick health quiz that puts common fitness and nutrition claims to the test — from "muscle turns into fat" to "carbs at night make you gain weight." Each round shows one statement; tap MYTH or FACT, then read a short, accurate explanation. It is a free true-or-false trivia game with no download and no signup, built to be fun and genuinely educational on any device.
How to Play Myth or Fact
Every round deals you one claim from a deck of 34 fitness and nutrition statements — the kind of thing you hear in a gym, a group chat, or a supplement ad. Two buttons sit under the card: MYTH (the claim is false) and FACT (the claim is true). Pick one. The card immediately stamps the verdict and shows a one-line explanation of the real science, so you learn something whether you guessed right or not.
A correct pick adds +1 to your streak, and the next statement slides in about a second and a half later. A wrong pick ends the run on the spot: the correct button lights up, the screen shakes, and the game-over card estimates what share of players your streak beat. Your best streak is stored in your browser, and setting a new record triggers confetti. Once you have seen every card the deck reshuffles, so on long runs remembering the explanations becomes part of the skill — a second lap through the deck should be noticeably easier than the first if you actually read the reveals.
Streak-building tactics
- Absolute wording is a red flag. Claims built on "always", "must", "the single cause", or "automatically" — like "eating carbs at night automatically makes you gain fat" — describe the body as simpler than it is. Real physiology is dose- and context-dependent, so sweeping statements lean myth.
- Know the classics the deck loves. Spot reduction (crunches burning belly fat), muscle "turning into" fat, sweat equaling fat loss, and detox teas all appear here, and all four fail for the same reason: they confuse a visible side effect with the underlying mechanism.
- Energy balance settles most food questions. When a statement is about weight change — meal timing, meal frequency, late-night snacks — ask whether it actually changes total calories in versus calories out. If it doesn't, it is almost certainly a myth.
- Boring training principles are usually facts. Progressive overload, rest-day recovery, warm-ups raising blood flow, sleep driving muscle repair: statements that read like a textbook rather than a headline tend to be true in this deck.
- Take your time. There is no timer, so nothing punishes reading a statement twice before committing. The streak counter flashes at every multiple of five — a good moment to slow down rather than speed up.
FAQ
Is Myth or Fact free?
Yes. Myth or Fact is completely free to play online with no signup and no in-app purchases.
Do I need to download anything?
No download required. Myth or Fact runs right in your web browser — just open the page and start playing.
Can I play on mobile?
Yes. The game is mobile-first and works on phones, tablets, and desktops with touch or mouse.
How do I play Myth or Fact?
A fitness or nutrition statement appears. Tap MYTH if you think it is false or FACT if you think it is true. A short explanation reveals the truth. Guess right to extend your streak; one wrong answer ends the round.
How many statements does Myth or Fact have?
The current deck holds 34 statements — a mix of widespread myths and true facts. Cards are dealt in random order, and once you have seen them all the deck reshuffles, so a very long streak will start repeating claims.
What does the percentage on the game-over screen mean?
It is an estimate from a scoring curve, not a live leaderboard. Short streaks rate low, a streak of five already beats most casual runs, and very long streaks approach the 99% cap.
Is my best streak saved?
Yes. Your best streak is stored in your browser on this device, so it survives page reloads. Clearing your browser data resets it.
